Copper Harbor, Michigan, August 2011

A great destination for silent sports.  We spent a few beautiful days in the Copper Harbor area.  Stayed at the Bella Vista Motel, which is located in Copper Harbor next to the ferry that sails to Isle Royale.  We launched our Current Design Solstice GT touring kayaks from the hotel property onto the Keweenaw Water Trail in Lake Superior.  Spent a calm day paddling along the rugged coastline.  The next day we gave our Trek mountain bikes a workout on the awesome trails that you can ride from town.  These trails are the best of the best.  What a thrill.  Our third day in Copper Harbor was for hiking and sightseeing.  Hiked The Estevant Pines trail, which meanders thru towering old growth white pines.  Drove the Brockway Mountain roadway – the highest scenic roadway in the midwest.  Toured one of the many old copper mines in the area – The Delaware Mine.  We will definitely go back to this area – It’s awesome.
