Rain was in the forecast, the sky looked dark. To our surprise, 20 paddlers arrived at the boat landing. The rain held off as we paddled around the lake. Some of the paddlers did some mud bogging down Deer Creek. The water level of the Creek was marginal. The mud proved to be too much for a Hobie Kayak. It needed to be towed out of the mud. Our tow kayak, powered by Jim Krog, performed admirably. Back on the lake, we had clear sailing. An island in the middle of Deer Lake is for sale and comes complete with a house, hot tub, boathouse on the mainland. Hmm, tempting. After our paddle we drove to Meisters outdoor beer garden located in downtown Phillips. - Meisters serves some of the best burgers in the area. The weather held up and we enjoyed dining outdoors. Great music, food and company.
