Ron,

Shannon and I would just like to thank you once again for accommodating us last Friday. I really appreciate you coming in early to get us out on the water. We got back to the take out point at Nine Mile at about 7:30. It was a long day but what a nice trip. The kayak was in great shape as was the rest of the equipment you rented us. We had a wonderful trip on the Flambeau and we are definitely planning on making a return trip. Shannon caught her first Muskie on this trip and we saw quite a few more. She actually lost a mid 30’s inch fish at the boat… what a fight.

Thanks again Ron.

Sincerely,
Fred and Shannon Anderson

P.S. Here’s a pic of Shannon’s muskie.

The Crazy Loon sponsored a hole at the annual Flambeau Hospice Chili Golf Open on Long Lake.  Pictured third from the left, The Crazy Loon's co-owner, Chris Kendziera, is ready to participate in the event.

Favorable weather, plenty of participants, helpful volunteers and super community support all contributed to the success of the "Chili" Golf Open on Feb. 4. The event, held on Long Lake in front of Harbor View Pub and Eatery, is the annual fund-raiser for its sponsor, Flambeau Hospice.

More than 80 golfers participated in the tournament, playing on the 9-hole, par 3 course laid out on the lake. The contest for the most outrageous costume was won by a team calling themselves "The Outrageous Superheroes."

Sherrie Kandutsch and Lynda Bolton were the respective first and second place individual women's low score winners. Men's individual low score winners were Dave Nicolaus, first place; Bink Collins, second place; Scott Woldt, third place; and Trent Ballerstein, fourth place.

Cindy Meyer had the individual high score for the women, and Dan Meives had the men's individual high scores.

The top corporate team winners were Northwoods Community Credit Union, who took first place and received the "Chili" Golf Open traveling trophy. Superior Automation earned second place, and PD Products placed third.

There were 22 entries in the chili cook-off contest, and the official chili tasters included Kevin Klein, Tim Popp, Clarence Lacina, Jim Braun, Pete Hahn, Don Koerner, Diane Gryskiewicz, Mayor Joe Boho, state Assembly Rep. Mary Williams, state Sen. Russ Decker and Channel 9 meteorologist Justin Lowe.

Rosie Meives took first place in the individual category of the chili cook-off. In the chefs representing a business category, there was a first place tie between Kathy Hrad of A&W Restaurant and Phyllis TePaske representing Big Bear Lodge.

Winners of the top raffle prizes included Terry Davies, Cuddeback DeerCam; Jane Farkas, two night stay at The Waters of Minocqua; Dan Stangl, two tickets to a 2006 pre-season Green Bay Packers game; Duane Grube, Green Bay Packer football; Justin Lowe, Milwaukee Brewers tickets; and Frank Dusek, Milwaukee Bucks tickets.
